Kabboord, Burris Off To Flying Starts Cocoa Beach—Two of the area's best prep running stars tuned up for the season by posting shining performances at the 6th Annual Space Coast Cross Country Jamboree at Cocoa Beach High School on Saturday. Rockledge's Sean Burris and Cocoa Beach's Elly Kabboord both broke their own course records on the way to first place finishes in the male and female 13 and older races. Kabboord, last year's Class 2A state champion in cross country, shaved five seconds off her record with a time of 19 minutes 5 seconds over the winding three-mile course. Burris ran away from the field early and never looked back, finishing in 15 minutes 6 seconds to shatter his old record by more than 50 seconds. Burris is currently ranked second in Class 2A. More than 180 runners competed in this year's Jamboree, which is open to all ages and consists of a 3-mile run and 1-mile run for kids 12 and under. Among the competitors on Saturday was Brevard County School Board Superintendent Dr. Richard DiPatri.
