13th Annual Space Coast Runners 50Km Cross Country Beach Run       
Cocoa Beach, Fl - December 30, 1990       
                                   
The 13th Annual Space Coast Runners 50Km Cross Country Beach Run was held December 30,       
1990. It was a hot day in the 80's, unlike the 22 degrees in the 1989 running.        
There were runners from 6 different states and 5 different countries. Forty three left the starting       
line in both the solo and relay divisions, many of whom elected to  not finish with the high temperature.       
(Only 51% finished the distance they elected to run.) Eileen Eliot entered both the solo and male-female       
relay by entering both events. The $10 the day of the race entry fee was reduced to $7 when no       
more 50K shirts were available. There were no serious negatives voiced by the entrants but       
one positive suggestion for next year: provide some nourishment (orange slices, etc.) at the 22,25       
and 28 mile aid stations. Thanks to the entrants who suggested this, the volunteers who did        
a superb performance, the South Brevard Amateur Club and the Platinum Coast Amateur Radio       
Society for furnishing an exemplary service, and the City of Cocoa Beach and the Brevard County        
Parks and Recreation for the use of their facilities as sponsors - HAROLD TUCKER
