Run for the Shamrocks 5k - March 17, 1990 Melbourne, Fl Race Results - Revels & Borell Shamrocks of Brevard: This year's Saint Patrick's Day race was run on the old Beau Jean's Course under windy but comfortable conditions. Starting in front of the Strawberry Mansion, the race headed east over the Melbourne Causeway almost to the second relief bridge and then back to the finish on Front Street in front of the park. The bridge, wind, and the possibility of a long course, resulted in times that were slower than hoped or expected. A long second mile split fueled the length controversy but I was assured afterwards that it was correctly and accurately measured. The race was a nice low key event with green tee shirts to commemorate the day and an awards ceremony held on the grass at Front Street Park. When Pat Chambers went to accept his award, it was announced that it was his birthday, and those who remained around joined together and sang him "Happy Birthday". - GFR OVERALL MALES 01.
