Rib Fest 5 Km - April 4, 1993 Melbourne, FL In its second year, and the first year as a Space Coast Runners race, the Ribfest 5 Km drew 97 runners (up from 87 last year) and some faster times on a longer (and more accurate) course. It was a tough weekend for the race with two other races to compete with; a 5 Km in Palm Bay and a 5 Km in Titusville held the day before; plus an effective 7 am start because of the time change. However race directors Barry Jones and David Maltby made it a race worth doing and both deserve a hearty "Job well done!". Doug Butler won his second race of the weekend with a course record 15:30, knocking 40 seconds off the winning time at last year's race. Kevin Butler trailed Doug and finished. second in 16:00. Jorge Abreu, making his first appearance in a while, was third in 16:53. Tim Ferris was the top Male Master, finishing 13th overall in a time of 19:15. Barbara Helping from Vero was the first woman across the line and was clocked at 19:46. Delight Abreu was second in 20:00 and last year's winner, Ann Makoske, was third (and top master) in 20:20. - GEORGE REVELS - OVERALL MALES 01. Doug Butler 15:30 OVERALL FEMALES 01.
